Moonlight Ltd. Inc. is a franchisee of the Regal Shoes franchise chain run by Regal Corporation, a well known shoe manufacture in Japan. Moonlight Ltd. Inc. runs a single retail shop of the chain “Regal Shoes Okazaki,” located in Okazaki City, Aichi Pref. Mr. Ozaki, the franchise owner-operator of Regal Shoes Okazaki, used to be an employee of Regal Corporation working as one of the supervisors of the FC chain. When he was a supervisor, he prepared the training programs for Regal Shoes FC shops more than 150 all over Japan. He, then, decided to ask for support for planning the training by MSI-Group which had a very limited experience only two years after being established.
I researched and studied the ideal model of the FC shop operation, and prepared the learning sessions for the FC shop masters for three years. I experienced much about the FC headquarters’ control over the FC shops as well as distribution planning of B2C products. My service rendering to Regal Corporation abruptly ended when Mr. Ozaki quit the company to take over one small FC shop that he had been in charge of to supervise.
The small FC shop was once closed and re-opened four months later in 2002 by the new owner-operator, Mr. Ozaki. I became one of the directors of Moonlight Ltd. Inc. Mr. Ozaki and I discussed the new business and decided to build a unique store concept a little deviated from the franchise formula. We minutely studied the store concept of Starbucks and created a shop where visitors can yak about business fashion style. The concept was accepted by the local senior businessmen. Its customer retention ratio has always been the clear number one among all the Regal Shoes FC.
